Ozzie’s Fresh Market is set to close by the end of December.

The large-format supermarket at 639 Grand Street was previously an Associated Supermarket before a rebrand to an Ozzie’s Fresh Market. Although large like a suburban grocery store, the supermarket never seemed to catch on and was rarely busy.

Currently most of the inventory is marked down at 20%-off. That said, many of the fresh produce is priced higher than nearby Bravo or C-Town.

Last month, NYYIMBY reported plans were filed to replace the one-story retail building with a six-story residential building with 35 residences. Demolition permits had been filed as early as October.
