Something’s Up With Greenpoint’s Bar Bruno

By on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026 at 11:31 am

Mexican restaurant Bar Bruno is undergoing some changes, though exactly what that means remains a mystery.

Two weeks ago, the restaurant’s Instagram announced the Greenpoint location was switching over to takeout only with other changes on the horizon. The announcement also promised new menu items, directing users to a the URL barbrunonyc.com — but that URL now points to a cigar store located in the Caribbean. This change may simply be the result of URL theft, as the Toast account still links to the Carroll Gardens location.

Meanwhile, a thread on Reddit speculates the bar is closing, and a user confirmed the Greenpoint location was not opened earlier this week.

Further speculation claims the bar is set to reopen as Enid’s. There’s no real evidence supporting this claim, and the Bar Bruno liquor license appears to have been renewed two days ago, and valid through 2028 to the current owners of Bar Bruno.

Bar Bruno opened in the spring of 2022, replacing the longtime favorite Enid’s. Greenpointers spoke with owners Shannon Kimball and Mike Saleh at the time, who acknowledged the legacy of Enid’s on the neighborhood.
