Bread & Spread Opens in Williamsburg

Bread & Spread has opened a new location on Lorimer Street at Grand Street with fancy sandwiches.
Launched initially as a food truck concept, Bread & Spread had a DUMBO location for a decade. That spot closed in 2024, with the new location opening late last week.
The made-to-order feature meats like slow roasted porchetta. When the shop opened in DUMBO a decade ago, Gothamist called it the best in the neighborhood.
The Williamsburg menu features a selection of breakfast sandwiches served all day and lunch available after 10am.

There’s seating available inside a bright red dining room. It was empty earlier this morning, but could be a comfortable place to grab a quick lunch. There’s also a hot sauce station on the right with a variety of hot sauces available.

But what really matters is the food. The build your own breakfast sandwich is a tasty way to customize your meal with the basic egg sandwich including your choice of spread. I added cheese and sausage — and would definitely recommend the spicy sausage patty. Just look at this cross section:

The location had previously been home to Forcella, a wood-fired pizzeria. The pizza oven remains in the kitchen. Peri Peri Flamin’ Grill also briefly occupied the space.
