The Speedway Gas station on the corner of Metropolitan and Bushwick Avenue has been closed and fenced in.

It’s the second gas station on the corner to have closed. The station across the street has been shuttered for years, and when a bad smell hit the Graham Ave L train back in February of 2019, some hypothesized it was a leak from the station tanks.

The big corner lot is situated a block from the Graham Avenue L station. Numerous new developments are planned for the area east of Bushwick Avenue, or have been completed in recent years converting the more industrial area into a heavily residential district catering to upscale renters.
