Construction kicks off at 555 Broadway in East Williamsburg.

The corner lot at Broadway and Lorimer Street was cleared earlier this year in preparation for a 28 story building.

The mixed-use building will rise above the JMZ tracks and include rentals and office space.

Earlier this year, the site was sold to an investment group to avoid foreclosure and had a June 15 deadline to lay a foundation to receive a 35 year tax break, according to The Real Deal.
