Talea Beer Co, a woman-owned brewery based on Richardson Street and Leonard Street in Williamsburg is planning to open a taproom in the West Village.
The new tap room will be at 102 Christopher Street in Manhattan and is currently under construction but is set to open on October 13th. Talea also has a tasing room in Cobble Hill.
Talea’s Williamsburg location opened in 2021 taking advantage of a corner spot with expansive amounts of outdoor seating. It twas started by LeAnne Darland and Tara Hankinson, two avid home brewers who found traditional breweries didn’t deliver what they wanted.
Their goal with Talea was to launch a brewery more appealing to customers like themselves rather than the male-dominated taprooms.
And while breweries are known to be family friendly, that’s especially true for Talea where the restroom’s changing table is a spectacular addition to the accessible bathroom and emergency diapers are on tap.
The beer too is different. The focus is on easy drinking beers, and many of their flavors are fruit-forward. They have a long list of sour beers, and a colorful selection.
