Bourgeois flea market Brooklyn Flea plans an October pop-up for Meeker Ave.
Opening day for this limited edition flea is scheduled for October and will run on four Sundays in October.
The Brooklyn flea is a curated market with a focus on vintage, locally produced arts and crafts, “makers”, and local small businesses. Home decor venders are common as well.
The “BQ Flea” as the Meeker Ave popup will be known, will operate from 10am to 5pm, and return in the new year.
Vendors can apply online.
The flea first launched in 2008, a project from Jonathan Butler who also launched Brownstoner in 2004, becoming something of a model of millennial digital media that combined publishing and events to squeeze out a profit.
The flea started off in Fort Greene, and occasionally as popups eventually establishing itself on the Williamsburg waterfront. The flea also created the Smorgasburg, a giant outdoor food market where numerous restaurateurs and celebrity chefs got their start with popup food stands.
