Fast casual salad chain Sweetgreen came arrived in Greenpoint last year taking on a unique historic building, and removing the long standing dome.
The restaurant soft-opened at the end of September, and while portions of the facade remain from the original building, the historic interior was replaced with modern emptiness.
The unique building though has a long history. It has previously been a Rite Aid pharmacy, but started out life as a theater.
In 1919, the theater replaced a mansion belonging to the Meserole family, whose name remains on a nearby Avenue and Street in East Williamsburg.
