227 West Street is nearing completion as exterior work is rapidly finishing up.

The double towers feature a cantilever although its less visible from the Greenpoint side than from the river. Such creative designs usually maximize views on higher floors while reducing the Floor Area Ratio — a zoning consideration.

There will be approximately 745 units when the two towers are completed.

The development includes building a new street at the end of Commercial Street.

The building will overlook a new park that was built as part of the development. The Newtown Barge Playground was a 2.8 acre park that was renovated as part of the development program.
